sleepingbabyanddaddyLast week, I got this Faber-Castell PITT artist pen (XS) from Pens Galore. Naturally, as the Daddy and baby napped, Mommy went on to play with her new toy!

This is my first artist pen, so I don’t have much experience with them. I usually do my doodles and ink drawings with my Pilot Gel Pen, or a G nib and Sumi Ink.

The PITT artist pen is described in Pen Galore’s site as,

“Ink drawings have a very long artistic tradition. This has always been an interesting medium for artists and graphic artists, it lends drawings expression and durability and can also be combined with many other drawing techniques. Faber-Castell has combined all the advantages of artist’s inks with the benefits of a modern, easy-to-use disposable pen – the PITT artist pen. The pigmented and very lightfast drawing ink is ideal for sketches, drawings, layouts, fashion design and illustration.”

The pen is also water-resistant, permanent, odour-free, acid-free and pH neutral, and has is available in the following sizes:

XS = 0.1 mm
S = 0.3 mm
F = 0.5 mm
M = 0.7 mm
B = brush tip
1.5mm bullet nib
SB = soft brush tip
SC = soft calligraphy tip

Here are some line variations that I was able to do with this pen (XS):

As I continue to explore different styles of media, I realized that I’m drawn towards pen and ink illustrations. I love those neat types and also those whimsical storybook types.These are the artists that I’ve been following, and they are the ones who play a huge factor with my falling in love with this medium:

I can’t wait to do more sketches with this new-found love of mine!
